Dr. Lynn Raymond announced today that Dr. Shernaz Bamji (pictured) has been appointed to the role of Associate Director at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (DMCBH).
Dr. Bamji is a Professor, Department of Cellular & Physiological Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. She is a founding member of the School of Biomedical Engineering and a member of the Life Sciences Institute Steering Committee. In these capacities, Dr. Bamji brings unique expertise that will enable her to strengthen our ties with the neuroscience and biomedical engineering communities at UBC and across the province of British Columbia.
In addition to her role with DMCBH, Dr. Bamji is currently Vice-President elect of the Canadian Association for Neuroscience.
Dr. Bamji has a long-standing interest in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural connectivity and synaptic plasticity. Her work has provided valuable information about fundamental mechanisms underlying learning and memory, as well as how these processes are perturbed in diseased states.
Dr. Raymond looks forward working with Dr. Bamji, and to building on their vision for the future of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. Please join us in welcoming her to this new role.
