The Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA) recognized exceptional psychiatrists, psychiatric residents and individuals for their contributions to the mental health of Canadians during their annual meeting in Vancouver on October 2.
Dr. Raymond Lam received the CPA J.M. Cleghorn Award for Excellence and Leadership, an award dedicated to the memory of Dr. John Cleghorn, an early neuroendocrine researcher and the first chair of the Scientific and Research Standing Committee. This award recognizes a CPA member for excellence in clinical psychiatric research or leadership in advancing clinical psychiatric research in Canada.
Dr. Lam received this prestigious award for Clinical Research for his research into the clinical and neurobiological factors in seasonal, treatment-resistant and workplace depression, which has had a significant impact on contemporary psychiatric practice, nationally and internationally.
“Dr. Lam’s clear vision and leadership in advancing evidence-based practice in the field of mood disorders are in keeping with the high standards set by Dr. J.M. Cleghorn,” found the awards committee. For more information on Dr. Lam’s work, visit the Mood Disorders Centre page.
