I work for a number of research groups (MacKay, Laule, Kolind, UBC MRI Research Centre) helping manage studies and performing data analysis. I’ve been involved in using advanced MRI techniques to study multiple sclerosis since 1993. More recently, we’ve started using our advanced techniques in clinical studies and trials. Our goal is to develop ways to make MRI more specific to MS pathology. We’re especially excited that 2 new research MRI scanners have arrived at DMCBH.
Our research focuses on using advanced MRI techniques to understand multiple sclerosis pathology. Of particular interest is myelin water imaging, a technique pioneered at UBC, which can quantify the amount of myelin in CNS tissue.
